Man dies after Rudall collision

Major Crash officers are investigating a fatal collision at Rudall Tuesday morning.

Police and emergency services responsed just before 9.30am police responded to reports of a collision between a utility and a van on the Birdseye Highway at Rudall, west of Cleve.

The driver of the van, a 60-year-old Smoky Bay man, died at the scene while the passenger in the van and the driver of the utility were taken to Cleve Hospital with minor injuries.

The Birdseye Highway was closed for several hours while Major Crash investigators examined the scene with traffic being diverted down Balumbah Kinnard Road.

This man's death takes the state's road toll to 51, compared to 63 at the same time last year.
