Police use spikes to stop vehicle

Two people have been arrested for a number of offences after they allegedly drove a car, which had been stolen from an Adelaide suburb, across the state.

Police allege patrols attempted to stop the occupants of a stolen Volkswagen sedan on the Eyre Highway at Kimba at about 9.45am on Tuesday, June 2.

There were multiple sightings of the car, including at Cleve and Cowell, which led to police unsuccessfully trying to spike the tyres at the intersection of Cleve and Tiges roads.

Police used spikes about 1.5km east of Kyancutta, which led to a man and a woman dumping the car.

A 32-year-old man from Rosewater was arrested nearby, and a 23-year-old Port Adelaide woman was arrested several hours later after a search of the area.

The man was charged with a raft of offences including illegal use, dangerous driving to escape police, and breach of bail while the woman was charged with a number of offences including illegal use and breach of bail.
