Colour Trail is back for 2020 to help raise funds for new clubrooms

The Cleve Sporting Bodies Colour Trail will be back again for 2020 to celebrate the opening of the new clubrooms.

This event was first held in November of 2017 with 550 people taking part and then again in October of 2018 with 450 people taking part, and has raised approximately $25,000 for the multi-purpose facility over the years.

The 2019 event was moved to early 2020 to coincide with the opening of the new clubrooms and event coordinator, Meisha Quinn, is hoping to raise another $10,000 this year.

This money will go towards the finishing touches on the clubrooms and saving towards resurfacing the netball courts, but Meisha needs more people to register before registrations close on Saturday, February 29, for the event to be a success.

"The CSB Colour Trail 2020 is a fun, family-friendly event for all ages," she said.

"The newly constructed trail stretches 5km from the Eastern side of the Cleve township to the beautiful scenic site of the Yeldulknie Weir."

"The walking trail has been well utilised by the community and it is wonderful to see the Yeldulknie Weir Trail parkrun running so successful every Saturday morning."

"On the day of the event, participants will check-in between 9.30-10.30am."

"Shuttle buses will transport participants from the Cleve Oval to the Yeldulknie Weir between 10.30-11.30am ready for the start of the 5km walk, run or ride into Cleve."

There will be five colour stations along the track, plus two water stations to get damp before picking up the colour.

Once everyone returns to the oval, there will be a colour finale where everyone will receive a colour pouch and count down from ten before throwing the coloured powder up in the air.

"Everyone is then invited to join us for lunch, refreshments and music and to enjoy the new club atmosphere," Meisha said.

If you have never taken part in a colour run before Meisha has some hot tips to share:

  • Add some bright colours to your outfit to make it fun
  • Wearing white will pick up the colour
  • Keep your phone in a clear zip-lock bag, so it doesn't get dusty but you can still take photos
  • Wear a scarf around your nose and mouth if you are asthmatic
  • Bring a spare set of clothes if you're travelling
  • Bring garbage bags to put your coloured clothes in
  • Place a towel on car seats to help prevent stains

Those who register before February 29 will receive a rego pack on the day which comes with a T-shirt, hat, sunglasses and a wristband.

"Bring along your family and friends to experience this colourful, fun and family-friendly event," Meisha said.

"Lunch and beverages will be available to purchase after the colour finale so please stay around to unwind, mingle with fellow participants and have a bite to eat."

"We would like to thank our amazing sponsors who have supported us and especially those who have sponsored the event every year since the inaugural event in 2017."

Please note on the day registrations will be available for anyone who misses out on registering before this Saturday, but they will miss out on the rego pack as they will not be available to purchase on the day.
