Cleve 4/151 def Rudall 147

It was Cleve's first home game of the season on Saturday, an exciting time for the club with the new club rooms nearing completion.

Rudall won the toss and had no hesitation in deciding to bat with perfect conditions on offer.

It started poorly for the visitors, with Lachie Shambrook taking a screamer in the gully to remove Angus Slack.

It then went from bad to worse for the Rams with Hank Burton falling the very next ball to a jaffa from Ethan Kwaterski.

With the fall of the third wicket and the score on 41, Dave Smith came to the crease and proceeded to dispatch the bowling to all corners, (including having the distinction of being the first player to hit the club rooms roof!).

When he fell to a great outfield catch from Cam Taheny, Cleve were able to slow the scoring rate through tight bowling and regular wickets, eventually bowling Rudall out for 147.

Pick of the bowlers was Kwaterski, with 3/14.

New opening combination Angus Turner and Geoff Rissman began brightly for the Bombers, putting on 49 for the first wicket before Rissman fell to Oakley Price for 20.

Ben Shannon then joined Turner, and the pair put on 57 to leave Cleve in a commanding position in their chase, and despite a few setbacks were able to pass their target in the 36th over, with Angus Turner top scoring with another half century posting a patient 58.

Price was the best performer for Rudall, claiming two wickets.
