G Flip gears up for One Night Stand in Lucindale

With less than a month until the massive One Night Stand festival, headliner G Flip is gearing up for her show and to meet the people of Lucindale - which could possibly include one local grandma.

Speaking to the Herald, Georgia Flipo AKA G Flip said locals had already reached out to her, including someone who invited her to meet their grandma.

"They've even made a petition online that I go hang out at their grandma's house while I'm in Lucindale," she laughed.

"... if it gets the intended amount I'm so down to hang out with a Lucindale grandma, for sure."

The change.org petition 'G Flip to visit my grandmas house' currently needs about 75 more signatures to reach its goal of making this unorthodox meet 'n' greet happen.

Petition creator Lucey F said of her grandma that "she's a lovely lady. We could drink some tea, coffee or whatever. It'd be sick"

"Even though I don't know anything about Lucindale I'm making friends, making friends with grandmas, you name it," G Flip said.

Since releasing her first single in March 2018, G Flip has toured the world, sold out three Australian headline tours, dominated festival stages at Splendour, Laneway and Groovin the Moo and been streamed over 50 million times.

G Flip has been praised for her boundless energy, flawless voice and impressive string of singles.

Yet, despite her worldwide breakout success, G Flip said One Night Stand was extra special.

"I've always been a big triple J listener," she said. "So I was totally humbled and so happy and stoked that triple J even just thought of me in the process of choosing someone."

"On my dream list of things to do, definitely One Night Stand is one of them.

"I've never been there and I've never played there but I have a feeling it's going to feel like such a community.

"There's nothing better than when you play a festival and it feel like such a community and it feels like school camp kind of vibe."

Originally a drummer, G Flip is known for her high energy live shows; which feature her powerhouse vocals and drum solos.

"It will be fun. I cannot wait to play. I've got a few little surprises for One Night Stand which I'm excited to unleash," she said.

A fan first, G Flip said she is most keen to see Ocean Alley play.

"I feel like Lucindale is going to shake," she said. "The whole town is going to have an earthquake with 20,000 people singing 'Confidence'."

One Night Stand will be held on Saturday September 14 and will feature Hilltop Hoods, Meg Mac, Ocean Alley, G Flip and one unannounced Unearthed artist.
