Kimba Football Club president, Peter Woolford, has been with the Kimba Districts Football and Netball Club (KDFNC) since its formation in 1989 and says the club started off with a bang.

"We won all four football premierships in the first two seasons," Peter said.

"Along the way, the A-grade has won a total of 12 premierships over 30 years and have competed in the last 12 grand finals while our reserves have won 14 premierships and competed in the last 18 consecutive grand finals."

"Our junior sides have also been fortunate to have done extremely well with 19 senior colts premierships and the junior colts winning 17."

Peter says by far one the club's biggest success stories over the years was the building of the new complex which started in 2009 and was first used on June 4, 2011, and then the erection of new light towers in 2014.

"These major projects were achieved due to the amazing hard work put in by the club's members and volunteers and great support from the District Council of Kimba," Peter said.

"Another major highlight was the naming of the town oval after Geelong, and local legend, Corey "Boris" Enright and further to this Boris returning to Kimba to play a match for us in 2017."

"To see the crowd swell with excitement plus the enjoyment it brought to our club and the wider community to see Corey back in the Tigers colours made for an unforgettable day. Overall as a club, we have been very fortunate to achieve what we have with many milestones over the 30 years."

"The amazing support we have received over this time from our members, volunteers and sponsors has been the main reason we have had such success and we look forward to that continuing into the next 30 years."

"Celebrating our first 30 years on Saturday will be a real highlight to acknowledge the success the club has had since the three clubs; Buckleboo, Kelly and Kimba amalgamated to join the Eastern Eyre Football and Netball league as the Kimba Districts Football and Netball Club."
