Cleve's Connor Brumfield won the South Australian Spot On Fishing and Outdoor's photo competition for a 77-centimetre, 8-kilogram carp he caught at Menindee Lakes.
The 12-year-old entered the SA Angler photo competition after he caught the impressive fish from the shores of the lakes near Broken Hill.
Connor's parents broke the news of his win during his school's recess break and he said he was very excited when he heard he had won.
"It's the biggest fish I've ever caught," Connor said.
"I've been fishing forever...mainly for fun."
He won a number of prizes including an Xtreme kayak designed for fishing, a cooler bag, Spot On merchandise, fishing equipment and much more.
The Cleve Area School year 7 student said he looked forward to testing out his new equipment during the school holidays.
Initially he was one of the six bi-monthly winners of the state competition, before he beat the other five finalists to take home the overall major prize.
