The Cummins Ladies Golf Club hosted the 2019 Eyre Peninsula Division Championship Foursomes on Wednesday, July 3, sponsored by Park Terrace Dental and CBH Grains.

A grade and B grade was played over 27 holes with the C grade competing in an 18-hole competition.

The course looked a picture with the lush green fairways and the backdrop of gum trees and running creeks but it proved a challenge to many golfers with the new scrapes causing more putts than normal.

The course committee, all of whom are volunteers, had the course looking spectacular, with many hours put into maintenance and mowing.

Ladies chairman Leah Carr welcomed 42 players from Cleve, Coffin Bay, Tumby Bay, Port Lincoln and Cummins.

Club captain Tiff Firth ran through the local rules with players and announced the draw, sending players off to start the day.

A grade had a strong field with 26 players contesting the 27 holes.

Winners of the 27-hole championship were Liz Zwar and Lisa Cook (Cleve), gross 134, from Cindy Carr and Val Sharrad (Port Lincoln), gross 138. The net winners were Gina Kenny and Ann Trewartha (Coffin Bay), net 111.

B grade 27-hole champions were Liz Blacker and Kathy Modra (Cummins), gross 157, from Pauline Britza and Robyn Pentecost (Coffin Bay), gross 158. Pauline Britza and Robyn Pentecost were net winners with net 114.

C grade 18-hole foursomes champions were Jean Puckridge and Jill Furnell (Coffin Bay), gross 116, with runners-up being Cummins ladies Judy Holman and Carmel Sheehan, gross 126.

Novelty for the A, B and C grade was the second shot on the ninth hole with Brenda Heath and Charmaine Cross winning A grade, Sally Curtis and Ros Scrase B grade winners and Jean Puckridge and Jill Furnell taking home the C grade prize.

The Cummins Golf Club wishes to thank Park Terrace Dental Dr Damien Chung and staff for their wonderful sponsorship, which provided beautiful trophies for the winners. CBH Grains (local rep Rick Will) also sponsored the day, allowing every golfer who played a one in six chance of winning a $50 sports voucher.
