Steve Whillas has been named the Eastern Eyre winner of the Breakthrough Community Round awards.
Award winners from each of the six Eyre Peninsula football and netball leagues have been named ahead of the mental health awareness round this Saturday.
Mr Whillas, who is involved with the Ports Football and Netball Club, has been active across the Eyre Peninsula in assisting drought relief efforts.
He has been the organiser of the EPIC Charitable Trust, which raised funds and coordinated donations of straw for farmers battling with drought conditions.
He was also appointed a Family and Business scout for Primary Industries and Regions SA, tasked with providing a friendly face and assistance connecting farmers with support services.
Mr Whillas is also an ambassador for the Breakthrough game in Kimba on the weekend and will be speaking on the day when the Tigers take on Ports.
