Cowell Area School student Tilly McFarlane has won an exclusive academic scholarship.
Miss McFarlane was one of 85 students across the country this year to receive a four year Harding Miller Education Foundation scholarship valued at over $20,000.
She had the opportunity to travel to Sydney to be presented at the Public Education Foundation awards night at the Sydney Town Hall.
Recipients of the scholarship receive new laptops, tutoring, subject and career guidance, mentoring and financial support from Year 9 to Year 12.
Cara Varian from the Harding Miller Foundation said Miss McFarlane was a deserving winner.
"We are so pleased to announce Tilly as one of the scholarship recipients for 2019," Ms Varian said.
"At the Harding Miller Education Foundation we are focused on providing talented, hardworking and high achieving young Australian women with tools, resources and support to help them reach their potential."
She said the scholarship would assist Miss McFarlane in fulfilling her aspirations after her schooling in tertiary education and her career.
While Miss McFarlane has no clear plans for her career after school, she said becoming a chef, teacher or makeup artist were on the list.
"I want to do what makes me happy," she said.
"I intend to use the scholarship to better myself and to further my knowledge with tutoring, getting one-on-one help and to decide what I want to do."
