The Kimba Cup was held, with races still taking place in the town before the move to Port Lincoln.
Towns across the Eastern Eyre Peninsula marked the centenary of Federation throughout the year with a variety of celebrations and monuments.
Once such monument was the Cowell Welcome Wall, which remains to this day heading into the township.
It was a month of development for Cowell, with the mangrove walk also constructed.
