President David Reed welcomed 40 members and one visitor to the 2019 AGM of the Cleve and Districts Probus Club held in the Cleve Hotel on Tuesday March 5, followed as usual with a joke.
Mary Edwards welcomes and introduced Raelene Stringer as a new member of the club.
She was presented with her name badge by president Reed.
Raelene gave a brief but interesting talk on her life, growing up, and then working as a dental nurse in Port Lincoln.
She met and married Cleve lad Ian Stringer.
They lived in Mount Barker for ten years then returned to the Cleve district.
Raelene had family connections with the district, her mother taught in the school at Wharminda and both her brother and sister were born in the Cleve Hospital.
Raelene and Ian have two sons and a daughter.
Birthdays for March were acknowledged, a special one being Alison Turnbull's 90th and Colin Story turning 96.
After morning tea the AGM was held and president and committee members' reports read.
As at the end of February, there were 67 members.
President David Reed said how much he had enjoyed his year and sincerely thanked secretary Elaine Schumann and the committee for all their support.
Don Smith gave a vote of thanks to the president and committee.
Janys Asser was declared incoming president for 2019 and received the chain of office from past president Reed.
The newly elected committee was acknowledged and welcomed.
