Punters set to race to the Kimba Cup

Now in its 106th year, the Kimba Cup holds a strong reputation for being an excellent racing day for enthusiasts, fashion savvy racegoers and families with plenty of entertainment for everyone.

Kimba Racing Club secretary/treasurer Megan Dickenson said the Kimba Cup is one of the premier race meets on the EP.

“People love the relaxed atmosphere of the Kimba Cup in Port Lincoln, and you are sure to run into someone you haven't seen for ages,” she said.

“People love the country vibe with the sophistication of a city meeting and country hospitality at its best.”

“Last year we had over 900 people through the gates, with 500 enjoying the hospitality packages in the marquees and function rooms.”

The Kimba Cup should attract a top field of runners while the Fashions on the Field competition will have racegoers flocking to the shops to find the perfect outfit.

The Fashions on the Field competition gets bigger and better each year, with $1000 cash on offer for Best Dressed Womenswear, and a chance to win the state final, worth $5000.

There are also prizes for Runner-Up Womenswear, Best Millinery, Best Women's Footwear and Best Dressed Menswear.

Local vouchers are also given as prizes, with thanks to Rustik Cove, Pedemonte Jewellers, Doug Watson's Menswear and Rabobank.

Other entertainment will include live music, a bouncy castle and face painting.

The five-hour premium food and beverage package using fresh EP produce cooked by chef Damian Mrdjen and his team is always a delight.
