AFL players from the Port Adelaide Football Club caused a stir at the Cleve Bakery today when they popped in for lunch with club legend and community program leader Russell Ebert.
The club ran community programs at the Cleve, Cowell and Kimba area schools on Tuesday as part of their push to increase their community presence on the Eyre Peninsula.
After announcing a major sponsorship deal with GFG Whyalla, the club held a community camp in the regional hub on Monday.
Senior player Sam Gray stayed for lunch in his hometown, bringing along Mr Ebert, Ollie Wines and rookie Martin Frederick to enjoy the sun at the benches on Fourth Street.
The team will play a pre-season match against the Adelaide Crows on March 2 in Port Pirie.
