Darke Peak 35 def by Cleve 0/36

The cricket community raised over $500 for breast cancer at Darke Peak on the weekend, hosting a Pink Stumps Day to support breast cancer treatment.

The weekend saw the first association games of the year, after heat cancellations last weekend.

The junior and A grade Darke Peak sides took on Cleve, with the visitors taking the win in both divisions.

In the juniors, Darke Peak 8/80 could not match the total of Cleve 3/153.

A batting collapse in the A grade ended the day of cricket much earlier than expected.

Darke Peak won the toss and elected to bat, with Jamie Pearson and Zac Meyer first to take the field.

Ethan Kwaterski started a damaging day with the ball by claiming the wicket of Meyer for a golden duck.

Brodie Pearson came in at three to assist his brother in what would prove to be the best partnership of the innings, but was caught out with just one run by Nathan Byrne off a Geoff Rissmann ball, the score at 2/21.

Carnage followed, with Cleve claiming five more ducks to have Darke Peak all out in the 12th over for 35.

J. Pearson was the only batter to outscore the sundries with 15 runs off 26 balls.

Rissmann claimed five wickets for 12 runs, and Kwaterski took four for eight.

Cleve spent just over five overs with the bat without significant challenge from the Darke Peak bowlers.

Dylan Jenner and Angus Turner opened and closed the innings, reaching the target of 36 after 31 balls.

Jenner made 25 runs off fifteen balls, while Turner made 10 off 16.

With no wickets to be seen, Kyron McCallum had the best economy in the bowling for the Peak, conceding six runs in his two overs.
