Community members can have their say on the redevelopment of camping nodes at popular beaches near Cowell and Arno Bay.
Regional Development Australia Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula (RDAWEP) have identified eleven scenic locations for the development of camping nodes as part of the Eyes on Eyre project to increase tourism on the Eyre Peninsula.
Point Gibbon near Cowell and Redbanks Beach near Arno Bay are included in the list.
Locations were chosen based on areas that have been popular with campers in the past, and have begun to degrade as a result of use beyond capacity according to an Eyes on Eyre assessment.
The proposed camping nodes would include basic amenities and infrastructure, with plans also including signage and roadworks to improve access and cut down on unnecessary and environmentally damaging additional tracks.
A meeting will be held in Cowell on Monday, February 18 in the Institute Supper Room for public consultation on development at Point Gibbon from 4pm to 6pm.
The following day on February 19, consultation on Redbanks will be at the Arno Bay Hotel from 12pm until 2pm.
An online survey will open on Monday on the RDAWEP website, and interested community members can email their thoughts to email@example.com.
