AS some of you may have heard the Eyre Peninsula Tribune office will be closing on November 30.
While it will be disappointing to close the doors to the office, it does mean the paper will continue to serve the community for many years to come.
There will be some changes in the next month or so but in the most important ways the Eyre Peninsula Tribune will remain the same.
The passionate staff who are working in the office will stay on with the paper and they will be just as present and involved in the community as they always have been.
The whole Tribune team will be working from home and from Cleve, Kimba and Cowell on a regular basis.
Journalist Rachel McDonald is keen to get to know the many communities she writes for and you will still see her travelling the Eastern Eyre Peninsula in the red Tribune car.
The sales team, of Stacey Lawrie, Megan Turnbull and Kathrine Catanzariti, is looking forward to working even more closely with the region’s wonderful local businesses.
Staff will also still be contactable via phone and email as usual.
There is no denying the next few weeks will present some challenges but it will also present opportunities.
The closure will mean staff have the ability to work remotely which means they can spend more time out in the community covering the stories that matter to the region.
It may also mean that towns in the Eyre Peninsula Tribune’s readership, which have traditionally seen a little less of us, will have the opportunity to engage with the paper and staff on a more regular basis.
What has been and remains clear is the passion this region has for its local paper and that is one thing we know will not change.
The Eastern Eyre Peninsula community is a community that deserves to be heard and to have its stories told and the Eyre Peninsula Tribune will continue to tell them in print and online.
