The Lock SACWA Branch presented Mary Beard with a badge and certificate to commemorate 70 years of volunteer service.

Mary joined Dowlingville branch as a foundation member aged 18 then transferred her membership to Lock after her marriage.

Despite being busy as a wife and mother of three boisterous sons, Mary still found time to do handicrafts, provide international education and continue her finest talent of history collation and writing.

Her 30 year history of the Lock branch won her a state competition in 1975.

She updated that history 20 years later for the 50th birthday of the branch.

Positions she has held include handicraft secretary/assistant, reporter, arts officer, international officer, assistant secretary and sunshine lady.

Foundation Lock member Anne Searle shared early experiences, along with Shirley Longmire.

Three proud daughters-in-law, Kathy, Lynlee and Heather were present.
