Local business Cowell Electric has been recognised for its years of invaluable service to the Eyre Peninsula, being named Brand South Australia’s 2018 Regional Showcase Business Award winner.

Cowell Electric, a member of Ahrens Group, has a rich 90-year history providing electrical, civil, gas, mining and oil operations in regional South Australian communities.

Managing power station and distribution networks, Cowell Electric serve around 2400 customers across 13 remote towns with the supply of more than 15 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually.

They have built a strong reputation for quality, reliability and professionalism, as well as a preference for employing people within the region and supporting the communities in which they operate.

Until recently, Cowell Electric was headed by managing director Sue Chase, and employs more than 115 employees across its Cowell and Olympic Dam sites.

In August this year, it was announced that Cowell Electric would begin a new chapter after being acquired by regional engineering and construction group, Ahrens.

The deal broadens Ahrens’ operations at Olympic Dam, while bringing targeted opportunities to expand Cowell Electric’s industrial services into new interstate markets.

The recent Brand South Australia award signals a promising start to a successful relationship for Cowell Electric and Ahrens as well as a strong future for Cowell Electric.

Ahrens managing director Stefan Ahrens said the win was a testament to the dedication of former Cowell Electric managing director Sue Chase and team.

“This award recognises the incredible work of Sue and the team at Cowell Electric and demonstrates the value of this business to the region,” he said.

Ahrens and Cowell Electric are happy to embark on this new phase of growth and are certain it will bring plentiful opportunities to the region in the near future.

As Australia’s leading powerline construction and mining services provider, Cowell Electric will continue to pride itself on the successful delivery of all projects where safety, quality and cost are a key focus.
