Farmers in the Cowell area spent their Friday afternoon playing barefoot bowls on the new synthetic green at the Cowell Bowling Club.
The District Council of Franklin Harbour put on a barbecue for the community to have a day of recreation together.
The initiative is part of the council’s efforts to maintain the wellbeing of the community through the drought.
New wellbeing coordinator Jasmin Piggott was involved in the organisation of the event, and was out on the green with those who came along.
Eyre Peninsula Family and Business Support team member Helen Lamont was there, getting to know the locals.
Mrs Lamont and Mrs Piggott will be holding a workshop for local women next Monday about navigating the hardship of dry conditions, with twelve women signed up and a waiting list for a potential repeat event.
