On a perfect day for cricket, Port Neill hosted Darke Peak with both sides missing plenty of regular players.

Port Neill won the toss and chose to bat against the Peak openers of B Pearson and M Ramsey.

The first eight overs saw an even contest between bat and ball, before J Schubert was brought into the attack in the ninth over and had T Davey (19) caught with his third ball.

T McDonough (13) went soon after, knicking one through to the keeper.

S Masters and M Fauser tried hard before S Masters went for 16, followed by Mfauser for 11 and J Liddicoat for 13.

Port Neill’s lower order then crumbled with only two runs between the bottom six batters.

A well placed single through cover to B Siviour with debutant Declan Smith also managing a single.

J Schubert finished with figures of 5/17 to have the home side all out for 76.

Darke Peak opener Z meyer middled everything from the word go and wanted the game finished in good time.

After a quick 17, Meyer was caught which brought M Ramsey to the crease with D Harris.

These young lads put on a well made partnership of 29 ans crushed any hope Port Neill had of a miracle victory.

Ramsey (20) and Harris (9) both lost their wickets to Declan Smith, which then brought Schubert and Butterfield to the crease who went about notching up the remaining runs needed to both be not out.

Pick of the bowlers for Port Neill was Declan Smith with 2/18.
