Country Arts SA presented Daniel Tobias in his one man, award-winning comedy stage show ‘The Orchid and the Crow’ at the Cowell Institute on Friday night, and what a great show it was.

The show was a brilliant piece of story-telling, music and theatrical magic.

It took the audience on a journey through Tobias’s early years growing up in a Jewish family, to him being diagnosed with stage four testicular cancer.

Tobias turned his whole sad, confronting story into an uplifting experience full of rock ‘n’ roll music and clever, hilarious stand-up comedy, with occasional moments of inspiring, quiet reflection.

He had a great connection with the audience and his story, very well told, tackled religion and cancer with raw honesty, bringing the realisation that cancer can happen to any of us and how to face the future when sometimes our belief systems let you down.

The whole audience left the institute feeling positive and inspired. Thanks to Country Arts SA for bringing the show to the Eyre Peninsula and especially to Cowell.
