Ports 14.5 (89) def Eastern Ranges 8.6 (54)
I doubt anybody would have predicted that Ranges would lead Ports at three quarter time of the senior colts, but the girls in the scoreboard had it marked 7-6 to 7-5 in Ranges’ favour.
The enlightening commentary emanating from that vantage point was also entertaining, your Fox Footy contracts are in the mail girls. Looking forward to your Friday night show ‘Numbers Don’t Lie with Manda and Megan’.
Until that point it had been a cracking game with both sides playing entertaining transition football.
For Ports Jake Turner, Jake Bammann and Cooper Llewelyn created opportunities from centre breaks only to be thwarted by Nathan Peters who played a “blinder” and was well supported by Jack Grosser, Riley Evans and Reagan Taheny whose collective hard running broke lines and provided chances for the equally hardworking forwards - especially Tim Hannemann.
It was Tom Laas (who had been quiet by his standards), Josh Yeates with important turnovers on the wing and Geordi Carrick (two goals) who turned the tide in favour of Ports as they dominated the last quarter kicking seven goals to one to advance to their first senior colts grand final in quite some time.
