Roger Nield resigns as mayor

Cleve District Council mayor Roger Nield has resigned from his position as mayor, with deputy mayor Bryan Trigg taking up the position of mayor until the council elections in October.

Mr Nield has held the position of mayor for the past two terms, in addition to being a councillor for numerous years prior to becoming mayor.

However, due to illness, Mr Nield has had to miss numerous council meetings and other events, and felt it was best to step aside for the rest of the council term.

Chris Tarran has taken up the position of deputy mayor for the remainder of the term.

Nominations for local government elections open on September 4, and will close on September 18.

Enrollments for the roll close on August 10.
