Bastian claims Cleve win on countback

CLEVE GOLF CLUB STABLEFORD

The field was small, the spirit was willing and for most of the players the scores were good at the Cleve Golf Club on Saturday.

Saturday's stableford round was sponsored by the generous Cleve Hardware and Rural.

While the ride on mowers are still idling in the shed the course is greening up so much so that the greens keeper may have some work to do in the coming weeks.

The scores in both divisions were decided on countbacks with D. Bastian winning division one on 38 points from Paul Cox also on 38 points.

Well done to to Coxy for finishing his round.

The results in division two finished with W. Schumann on 38 points, who edged out his trade school mate P. Crosby to claim the win.

The other scores in division one were  A. Clements on 36 points, S. Elleway on 36 points, G. Merrett on 26 points, and A. Lee on 25 points.

In division two, T. Gillings’ score finished at 33 points.

Gary ‘Gazza’ Merrett has asked the Cleve Golf Club to formally request that the Stateliner bus stop and wait for him to have his tee shot.

However, the Stateliner's reply was that they would be too late getting into Port Lincoln if they had to wait for Merrett to have his shot.

Next week at the Cleve Golf Club is the annual Quinn's Transport Ambrose event.

Ambrose is a wonderful game.

It is one where you do not have to say sorry to your partner for a bad shot, unless your partner has a bad one as well.

Hopefull there is a good roll up to support the day.
