Eyre Western police are warning people about of a scam telephone call from a man pretending to work for Telstra.
Residents in Port Lincoln and Streaky Bay have reported phone calls from a man purporting to work for Telstra advising of internet issues on home computers, which he says he is able to fix via remote access after a small fee is paid.
The residents who have reported the calls to police have described the person seeking their details as very persuasive and believable.
Police strongly recommend people never provide personal information or credit card particulars over the telephone to a person they cannot identify in an official capacity.
Police also encouraged people to independently verify the source of unsolicited callers.
