Stars go through to grand final day

Conditions were perfect for the 20 spectators at the softball preliminary final on Sunday afternoon.

Stars were first up to bat and managed to get eight on the board before the third out.

Some sloppy early finals nerves from the young Franklin Stars caused fielding errors, allowing Slammers to sneak a couple over the line.

Franklin Stars settled in with the bat with another seven over the plate while holding Slammers to three.

Both teams made positional changes but Slammers put Bec Harkness into the pitcher’s circle and that changed the ball game.

The Stars were having trouble hitting her and Slammers kept them to eight runs for the rest of the ball game.

Franklin Stars ran out overall winners but that was only due to their good start with the bat.

The grand final will be played against Lock on Sunday at Cleve Area School at 2pm.
