Construction on the Cleve District Council’s new accommodation units on Main Street has started.
The four self-contained units are expected to be completed by Peter Elson Construction in the next four to six months.
The $600,000 project is the result of a feasibility study into the establishment of additional accommodation, which discovered that Cleve offers the lowest amount of accommodation per capita of any of the major towns on the Eyre Peninsula.
The new units are expected to offer a point of difference from the existing accommodation in Cleve.
Cleve District Council mayor Roger Nield said the new units would complement existing accommodation in the town.
“We don’t want to take away from the existing accommodation but want to complement them,” Mr Nield said.
“We need to get people to come into Cleve and not just stay for an hour.”
Community members are asked to take care around the building site.
