Cleve women’s bowlers held their drawn pairs competition on Valentine’s Day after it previously had to be cancelled due to the hot weather.
Five pairs entered with some maybe lucky to score a bye.
Lorraine Deakin and Evelyn Kenny had a slow start against Jacqui Dolling and Ruth Spriggs, down one to 10 shots on the fifth end but managed to claw their way back to be down nine to 11 on the last end.
Denise Millard and Nijole Brazauskas had a close game against Joan Post and Pauline Wheare winning 12 shots to 11.
Wheare and Post were too good for Beth Deakin and Mary Edwards in their first game, winning 20 to nine shots.
The final winners, Dolling and Spriggs, were too good for the rest, winning with 79 points, followed by Post and Wheare 61 with Brazauskas and Millard with 58.5 and the others following.
