NEW STAFF: New Cowell Electric staff Tom Darling, Grace Chopin and Craig Roberts are the first of many new faces the company expects to employ this year.

Cowell Electric has celebrated a record 2017, which saw the successful multi-trade contracting company double the number of staff to more than 100 employees.

The Eyre Peninsula company hired full-time staff for the Cowell head office as well as its Olympic Dam Mining Services branch.

Hiring from within the local region is something managing director Sue Chase is committed to as she is very passionate about supporting the communities in which Cowell Electric works.

Cowell Electric is pleased to announce Craig Roberts as corporate HSEQ manager, taking over the corporate compliance side of the business.

He arrived in Cowell in 1999 with wife Donna and their two children, Renee and Michael, bringing a wealth of knowledge of compliance and safety in the mining industry.

Another addition to Cowell Electric’s head office is recent year 12 graduate, Grace Chopin, taking the position of administration assistant.

Ms Chopin is a pillar of the local community, representing Cowell Cats at netball as well as excelling at school level sports across the state and was the proud recipient of the, Cowell Electric All Rounder Award, at the Cowell Area School end of year presentation night.

Cowell Electric would also like to extend a warm welcome to the latest member of the administration team, Tom Darling.

Mr Darling comes from an IT recruitment, HR and software sales background and emigrated to Australia five years ago.

After moving to Cowell two years ago, he and his fiancée, Hannah, continue to enjoy the standard of living and charm of country life.

2018 is already shaping up to be a bigger year at Cowell Electric with employment opportunities at Cowell, Whyalla, Olympic Dam, APY Lands and other areas the company has won or expects to win projects.

This means the company expects to recruit heavily throughout 2018.

Ideally Cowell Electric would like to attract people either already living on Eyre Peninsula or Upper Spencer Gulf or past residents who would like to relocate back to Eyre Peninsula, Whyalla or Olympic Dam.

There is an immediate need for a full-time qualified financial accountant in head office at Cowell, and applications are welcome from recent graduates and, or, experienced people.

Cowell Electric will also be looking for an experienced electrical engineer, an civil engineer and powerline technicians to work in the APY Lands (fly in/fly out), various sites around Australia on a project-by-project basis, or based at Olympic Dam.

Cowell Electric prides itself on being an employer of choice for all who share the company’s values, which include safety, respect, relationships and innovation.
