Big win for Port Neill

IN breezy conditions, Port Neill won the toss and elected to bat.

B. Hannemann and D. Lienert opened the batting line up for Port Neill but Lienert fell early for two, being bowled out by T. Boehm.

C. Llewelyn then joined Hannemann at the crease and together the two batsmen built a 55-run partnership.

Llewelyn was caught by a nice catch from D. Wheare, leaving Port Neill’s total at 2/60.

This wicket was followed shortly after by Hannemann being dismissed for a patient 14 runs.

D. Hannemann joined A. Masters at the crease but Lock struck again removing Hannemann for just two runs.

B. Lienert followed Hannemann to the crease but was well caught by J. Gray for one, as Lock began to take the upper hand with the score at 5/89.

T. McDonough and Masters began rebuilding Port Neill’s innings, with Masters looking comfortable at the crease.

The boundaries began to flow, with the pair putting on a match-winning partnership of 94 in quick time.

McDonough was eventually dismissed for a well-made 40, with Port Neill’s score sitting on 6/183.

Masters was the next to go on 76 runs, which included 11 fours and a six.

Port Neill began to swing the bat and at the end of the 45 overs were 7/218.

C. Heath was the pick of the bowlers for Lock, with the figures of 2/17 from his nine overs.

Gray and C. Wheare opened the batting for Lock, with Port Neill’s T. Masters and M. Fauser opening the bowling.

Fauser claimed the first wicket, dismissing Gray on a score of 16.

J. Beard was next to fall to Fauser, trapped in front for two. 

A. Masters was brought into the attack, striking in his first over to have Lock in early trouble, with the score at 3/39.

B. Lienert replaced T. Masters at the other end and a sharp catch from Masters saw Lienert claim his first wicket.

Wheare was dismissed for 23, while G. Slorach came and went for four.

C. Heath joined Boehm at the crease, where together they put on a partnership of 28.

Heath was caught behind for 23, followed shortly by Boehm thanks to a brilliant catch from McDonough with the score on 8/95. 

Fauser and Llewelyn cleaned up the tail, bowling Lock out for 108.

Fauser finished the match with impressive figures of 5/32. 

In the juniors, Port Neill also got a win over Lock, with a score of 5/180 to Lock’s 9/78.
