THE Eyre Peninsula under 12 cricket team finished fifth in the SACA Carnival Trophy in the Barossa Valley last week, coached by Tom Kenny.

In their first match against Upper North they won the toss and batted and were all out for 77, with Kade Mullins 3/5, Ezra Foster 2/5, Noah Ramsey 2/4, Hugh Redden 1/10 and Tyson Higgins 1/7.

EP batted and passed the score in the 14th over, with Noah retired on 22, Kade retired on 19 (opening partnership of 54), Tyson, 17 not out, and Tye Kenny, six not out.

The next match was against a very strong South East. EP lost the toss and were all out for 70 in the 20th over. Kade made 17, Ethan Pugsley, 10, and Maddox Hunt, eight.

South East passed the score in the 16th over with Ezra taking 1/6.

Game three was against Fleurieu, who made 133 as Noah took 2/4, Tyson 1/12 and Seb Henderson 1/14.

EP opened the batting with a stand of 44 between Noah, 30, and Ethan, 13, Ezra, 15, Brody Stratford, five, but the innings of the carnival was from Seb, who made a gallant 35, figuring in eight partnerships as EP just fell short, all out for 125.

One win and two losses meant EP had to play off for fifth and sixth against Mid North at Southwell.

EP won the toss and bowled with Mid North making 82. Tyson took 2/1 off three overs, Ezra 2/5, Noah 2/7,  Kade 1/8 and Tye 1/12.

EP passed the score in the 24th over with Maddox retired on 20, Ethan retired on 14, Tye, 12, and Oz Richardson, seven.

The boys can be very proud of the way they played and behaved on and off the field and with a bit of luck could have finished higher on the ladder but they will be all the better from the experience.

The leadership qualities of Noah, Kade and Tye improved every game and it was a pleasure to watch.

The all-rounders Tyson, Seb, Maddox and Ethan with the help of the opening bowling attack of Ezra, Hugh, Oz and Brody, proved to be a good team that got better.

Maddox, Ethan and Kade did a very good job as wicket-keepers for the week.

Seb, with his left arm off spin and Yarra’s leg spin, who, although he only took one wicket, bowled exceptional well.

All players contributed in some way each match.

Many thanks to the supporters that helped in anyway, especially Celia and Leanne scoring, Suzie and Blake with ‘My Cricket’ and Taris with the drinks.
