Andrew Congdon’s impressive Eyre Peninsula team knocked off the undefeated Barossa and Light under 14 team to win the 2018 SACA Country Cup final at Nuriootpa on Thursday.
Tom Morgan top scored for Eyre Peninsula getting 54 of the team’s 137 runs while Barossa Light were all out for 125.
The EP lads went into the final with two wins and a loss percentage ahead of a trio of teams: Murray Districts, South East and Fleurieu and Districts.
The Barossa and Light lads started with a 109-run win over Yorke Peninsula in a game that was moved to a hard wicket at the Gawler High School Oval, with captain Austin Poulton remaining undefeated on 74.
They secured a six-wicket victory over Mid North on day two, before dispensing with Murray Districts on day three at Saddleworth Oval.
Eyre Peninsula started with a strong victory over Upper North at the quaint Greenock Oval on Monday, bundling their opponents out for just 51 and winning by seven wickets.
Regan Taheny and Ethan Parsons both took four wickets for the EP side.
Despite making 90 on Tuesday at Saddleworth Oval, they still defeated the South East side by 20 runs.
In an entertaining game at South Gawler Oval, the EP side was defeated by three wickets by Fleurieu and Districts.
