On New Year’s Day, Aileen Will of Cowell celebrated her 90th birthday with family at a picnic lunch at Port Gibbon that included a birthday cake made and iced by her daughter Julie.

Born at the old Ceduna Hospital, Mrs Will grew up at Haslam, became a nurse and worked at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Streaky Bay Hospital, before marrying and moving first to Wanilla and then Lock.

When a cottage came up at Cowell, she moved there to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.

Although ill-health has slowed her down, Mrs Will still enjoys her gardening, knitting for charity, reading, going for short walks and attending church and church activities.

Her son Brian and his friend Maureen travelled from Adelaide to be with her for her milestone birthday and she enjoyed many phone calls, gifts and visits from family and friends during the day.
