The Quality Wool Cup wrapped up on Friday in Port Lincoln with Eastern Eyre finishing as winners.
Matches began at 8.30am at Ravnedale, Centenary Oval and Poole Oval as the best under 14 cricketers from Eyre Peninsula’s seven association faced off against each other in twenty20 competition.
After day one four teams were undefeated: Eastern Eyre, Far West, Tumby Bay and Great Flinders.
After the morning matches it became a three horse race as Tumby Bay defeated Far West while Great Flinders and Eastern Eyre gained victories over Lincoln Great Whites and Lincoln Tuna Kings respectively.
The last round of matches began at noon with Tumby Bay losing to the Great Whites while Eastern Eyre defeated Great Flinders to become this year’s winners.
Tumby Bay’s Brodie Higgins received the batting award for his 108 runs from four innings, Lincoln Great Whites’ Cameron Izzo won the bowling award for taking 6/46 and Kimba’s Jack Lienert won the fielding award.
