Lock 10/60 defeated by Cowell 6/129
IN the last match before the long holiday break Lock colts hosted Cowell, with the visitors taking the points.
Cowell won the toss and elected to bat first.
Their opening pair of O. White and J. Webb put on 23 before White was caught behind by Sam Pearce off Fletcher Kammermann’s bowling for 14 and 10 runs later Webb was on his way for six, trapped in front by Nick Pearce.
D. Franklin and L. Turner took the total to 51, when Franklin was judged leg before wicket off F. Kammermann’s bowling for 15 and Turner retired on 25.
S. Norsworthy fell to a catch behind by Nick Pearce to give D. Wheare his first wicket for 10, TJ Gregory departed to a S. Pearce’s delivery, for nine, G. Zerk snatched a smart catch and when Wheare picked up another wicket, taking the catch to dismiss K. Webb for three, Cowell’s total had reached 87, K. Fiegert giving it a boost when he contributed 19 and retired.
S. McFarlane, A. Turner and D. Gregory completed the Cowell innings, as the score reached 129.
Wheare finished with 2/24 and Fletcher 2/29, of off their six overs and Nick and Sam Pearce each took one wicket.
Lock lost two early wickets, Nick Pearce caught by L. Turner off Franklin and A. Turner and White combined to send Fletcher on his way.
Opener D. Wheare was still there doing the scoring as S. Pearce and M.Kammermann came and went.
Wheare top scored with 15, before being bowled by L.Turner and Zerk contributed eight, K.Webb picking up her wicket.
J. Gray stayed awhile to make 11 in the lower order, as J. Kay, J. Kammermann and T. Hetzel were dismissed, leaving J. Durdin not out and Lock’s total 60.
Franklin bowled three overs to claim two for six and A. Turner took two for three from two overs. White, L. Turner, S. Norsworthy, T. Gregory, K. Webb and K. Fiegert each picked up one wicket.
Eastern Eyre Junior Cricket will be taking a break over Christmas and New Years before returning on January 13 in a Horgan Shield match against Tumby Bay at Tumby Bay.
This will be followed by a Horgan Shield match against Kimba on January 20, played at Cleve Area School.
Eastern Eyre Cricket matches will resume as normal on February 3, following a weekend off over the Australia Day weekend.
