On March 8, Lock man Robert Koch had an accident in a tractor and spreader, which then burnt down while working in Darke Peak.

His injuries resulted in him spending seven months in hospital rehabilitation, and he needed a carer before he was allowed to return home.

He has a Central Cord Syndrome and proprioception in his hands, torso, hips, knees and ankles and is now unable to walk and getting used to life in a wheelchair.

However he recently returned home to find newly laid grass thanks to the Lock and District Services (LADS) who organised the surprise with the help of his daughters Shantel and Kristel and wife Celesce.

Before Mr Koch accident’s, he was in the process of doing home and yard renovations and one of the things on his list was to have grass out the back of his home.

It was a great effort of generosity by the LADS, helping out with what Mr Koch can no longer do.

One of Mr Koch’s nieces and the Hetzel family have also set up a Go Fund Me page with the goal of raising $1000, which so far has raised more than $3000 in just a month.

This money will go toward a fence, travel costs and more unfinished renovations as now the family will have to pay someone to do the work as Mr Koch is no longer able to.

Donations can be made on the Rob and Celesce Fundraiser page at gofundme.com/rob-and-celesce-fundraiser.
