About 150 people put their best foot forward on Sunday at the Cowell Lion’s Park for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation One Walk Event.
Organisers heralded the event a success with about $4000 being raised for type 1 diabetes research.
“Despite hot weather conditions and strong winds, the walk was a complete success,” organiser Andrew Story said.
Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey attended and officially opened the walk with the sound of the air horn and then participated in the 3-kilometre walk around the Cowell township.
Following the walk, the walkers were treated to a sausage sizzle and the children were entertained by a jumping castle and a face painter.
The walkers were also serenaded by music from the Cowell Area School students, Sing Australia and local singer Kingsley Smith.
“I would like to thank the local businesses and community members who donated towards the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and to the many volunteers who helped put on the day,” Mr Story said.
