Community groups share in $28,040

THE Cleve District Council has given $28,040 to eight organisations in the district in its 2017/18 community grants.

Council voted to allocate the grants at last week’s council meeting, after applications closed on September 29.

Arno Bay Boardwalk has received $4000 to go towards upgrades, while Arno Bay Sporting Association received $1540 for a new defibrillator.

The Arno Bay Dirt Circuit Club will be able to purchase a new communication system with its $2750 grant, and the Ports Football and Netball Club’s Champions Academy will receive $4000.

Cleve’s Gym Works have received $4000 for an air conditioner, making working out more enjoyable for its users, the LilGym has also received $4000 for building upgrades.

The National Trust’s Cleve branch was the fifth organisation to receive $4000, to go toward a storage shed extension to the total of $13,623.

Cleve District Bowling Club will be able to get new perimeter seating with a grant of $3750.

The aim of the grants is to encourage, develop and support local projects that benefit the district’s residents.
