CHESTWOOD Meats from Kimba was awarded the Best Butchers Gourmet Burger when the Sausage King and Best Butchers Burger competitions were held last week in Cleve.
Butchers from Wudinna, Streaky Bay, Cummins and Kimba entered products in the competition.
The competition was open to independent butcher shops who were members of the Australia Meat Industry Council.
Regional butchers could enter products into six categories in the Sausage King Competition which were traditional Australian beef, Australian lamb/open class, traditional Australian pork, poultry, continental and gourmet open class.
Butchers could enter two products in the Best Butchers Burger Competition which were best beef and best gourmet burger.
In the Sausage King Competition Wudinna Meat Store won the traditional Australian beef, traditional Australian pork and the gourmet open class; the Streaky Bay Meat Service took out the Australian lamb/open class category; and the Cummins Meat Store won best poultry.
In the Best Butchers Burger competition, Chestwood Meats won the best gourmet burger and Wudinna best beef burger.
The winners will compete at the state grand final, those winners will then go on to compete at a national level.
