Bowls events raise $100 for flying doctor

Cleve ladies held their annual Cosmopolitan Day with teams from Wudinna, Kimba, Tumby Bay, Cleve and several players from Cowell and Arno Bay helping out.

The spider was won by Joan Post and will be donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Three games were played with all games having a different activity at some of the ends.

One of the activities was after the players bowled, the winning skipper of the last end tried to place the jack where it would most benefit their side, not an easy task.

These little things kept all players on their toes and created some fun.

In all, it was a great fun day played in nice weather.

Eventual winners were the Tumby Bay team of Bill White, Danielle Carr, Stephen Hibbitt and Keryn Hibbit with 61 points, followed by Bev Southall, John Cathro, Evelyn Kenny and Glenda Evans with 61 points – a close result.

Other scores were R. Spriggs 57, D. Millard 47, B. Deakin 56, D. Larwood 15, L. Deakin 45 and K. Winter 38.

The day was sponsored by Tumby Bay Community Bank – Cleve Agency, with Judy Arbery there to hand out the prize money to the two teams.

The club also held its opening day the previous week with players having a game followed by a pooled tea.

Kym ‘Yabbie’ Wakefield had a birthday cake decorated with a bowling theme and a reasonable amount of candles!

A spider was also organised and added to the money raised on the ladies cosmopolitan day.

A total of $100 will be donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
