The biennial Grains Industry Expo run by EPIC took place across the Eyre Peninsula in August, and was once again successful.
The fourth event of its type, the expo was well supported by industry representatives from across Australia and attended by approximately 110 growers and agriculture professionals.
With ten presenters speaking throughout the day on topics such as grain, storage and handling, shipping, snails, weather and the EP’s clean green image the day was both informative and entertaining.
The structure of the day kept things moving along well and the lunch and afternoon tea breaks gave everyone the opportunity to stretch their legs and chat with the industry reps.
Organisers wanted to thank the clubs who hosted the events - the Cummins Bowling Club, Wudinna Sporting Complex and the Ceduna Football Club - who once again did a wonderful job of catering.
“The team at EPIC put on a great series of roadshows, which were well supported from both the farmer and the trade,” said Ben Noll from ADM
“For each of us marketers to individually put on these type of events it would take a lot of time, money and effort, and we wouldn’t be guaranteed the number of attendees. So our business embraces these expos as true value for money.
“We have an emphasis on sharing information, and we certainly get as good as we give at the expos. We really enjoy the passion behind the EPIC brand also, it’s certainly very good for EP Ag and grain exports in general.”
Steve and Tracey would like to thank all who supported the expos. Without the support of the industry and the growers these events would not be possible.
EPIC (or EP Integrated Commodities) is an SA grain broker based in Kimba and owned by EP residents Tracey Lehmann and Steve and Sandy Whillas.
Tracey is the office manager and Steve is the field officer servicing approximately 350 clients. The company currently employs six staff, with Tracey and three others manning the Kimba office, Steve in the field and Michael Cousins based in Crystal Brook, servicing approximately 100 Mid-North clients.
Aside from the brokering service, EPIC has launched a new online grower portal this year, which allows clients to enter production data for low, average and high yields and tracks their percentage hedged.
It will also allow them to see best pricing and market depth, use graphs to track price movement over time and check futures and dollar movement and basis. They can also enter watched prices so that the portal only shows the prices they are interested in.
