The Cleve Golf Club hosted the 2017 Eyre Peninsula Closed Championship on August 1.
The event was meant to be played at Kimba but they had to pass this event on and Cleve was next in line.
Unfortunately, the one Kimba player who attended the day had to withdraw through illness and the other players wish her a speedy recovery.
The weather was absolutely wonderful on the day, with eight clubs involved and a total of 32 entries competing.
Cleve’s Liz Zwar won the A grade competition with 92 as Tumby Bay’s Kerry Lawrie won the B grade competition with 102 and Cleve’s Sue Edwards won the C grade competition with 112.
Congratulations to all of these winning ladies.
The teams event was won by the Coffin Bay team made up of of Jude Cain, Anne Middleton and Jean Puckridge who received a combined net score of 230.
Despite such a dry start to the year, the golf course was presented in pristine condition as there was more than 12 millimetres of rain two days prior to the event.
All the women enjoyed a light luncheon at four o’clock after which trophies were presented to the day’s winners.
There was a raffle won by local woman Val Gale, plus three spinning wheels, which everyone enjoyed.
A thank you must go to those who worked in the kitchen, the bar man, those who did the score cards, plus the groundsmen who worked tirelessly, and lastly to Lesley and Iggy who worked in the office on the day of the championships.
