Kimba students dreaming big

Reception to year 5 students at Kimba Area School participated in this year’s Dream Big Festival, themed Feed the Mind.

The festival, formerly known as the Come Out Festival, was established in 1974 to encourage children to get involved in the arts.

The Kimba celebration opened with the song ‘Dream Big’, with the students listening to how they can feed the mind through the mouth, ears, brain/mind, eyes, nose, voice, body and environment.

The students spent the day making crayon masks and finger puppets, to correlate with the Simultaneous Story Time they had been doing in the library.

The students also learnt orizomegami, the ancient Japanese art of dyeing and folding paper, which they used to decorate and cover cards and boxes.
