Cleve District Council is supporting

THE Cleve District Council is offering financial support to the Arno Bay Community Sporting Association (ABCSA) and the Cleve Sporting Bodies (CSB) for their planned improvements and rebuild efforts.

Subject to the success of a grant application to the Office of Recreation and Sport, the council has agreed to provide $20,000 to the Arno Bay association and $50,000 to the Cleve Sporting Bodies.

The support will be provided as cash, in-kind support or a combination of both.

The Cleve Sporting Bodies made a deputation to the council late last year,  presenting a preliminary plan for a new community sporting complex to replace the clubrooms damaged in a storm early last year.

The Arno Bay Community Sporting Association also presented to the council, asking for assistance with renovations at the complex, including a new roof, bar and kitchen upgrade, outdoor children’s area and improved air conditioning.

The council will continue to liaise with the Arno Bay association regarding the potential for a community loan of up to $100,000 through the Local Government Finance Authority.

Councillors voted to complete the Landowner Consent Form, a letter to the Office of Recreation and Sport supporting the proposed changes by each club and provide letters of support for the clubs’ applications for grant funding.
