AussieMite arrives

Roger John Ramsey, who is now based in Stirling, released the Non-GM, yeast-based product on June 19, a few weeks before Dick Smith released his product 'Ozemite'.

AussieMite clarified that the product being launched by Dick Smith, which will be on display on supermarket shelves soon, is not AussieMite, which we have been selling for 12 years.

AussieMite Managing Director Elise Ramsey said it was a 12 year labour of love product.

“We are a small Australian business motivated by wanting to provide a premium product that is leading

the way and putting back into the Australian economy. We only have one product and have worked incredibly hard to get to this point,” she said.

“More than 12 years in the making and with generous proportions of vitamin B added recently, an Australian yeast-based non-GM spread was the brain child of Roger Ramsey keen to provide an Aussie icon food spread with a premium product that is 100% Australian owned.”

AussieMite Managing Director Elise Ramsey also said the family business supports locally sourced food, believes food producers have a role as custodians of the land and also that Australians have a right to know whether or not a product has genetically modified ingredients—AussieMite displays its non-GM status on the label.

“In supporting Australian owned and made produce, as a community, we are putting back into our economy and strengthening our country,” she said.
