The 2010 Lock Cup will host six races at the picturesque McLachlan Park Racecourse, 10 km north of Lock, on February 21.
The day starts at 12pm, ready for the first race at approximately 12.30pm. The program consists of six races throughout the day including a heat of ‘Country Cup Challenge’ series and Lock’s first year of the ‘Bill Holland’ series.
Lock Race Club Inc has been hosting ‘the Oakbank of the West Coast’ for 44 years in 2010.
The club has managed to improve its course facilities and patron areas over the many years. Shady trees and shelters now help adorn our main viewing area, freshly painted white rails and green lawns help keep McLachlan Park Racecourse looking professional and inviting.
Much of the club’s success has come down to a dedicated and hard-working committee which continues to grow.
“With the obvious renewed interest in racing throughout the state over the past five years or so, small country race meetings can only get better,” Lock Race Club assistant secretary Corina Reynolds said.
“Sponsorship for Lock Race Club has doubled in the last few years facilitating much-needed funds to boost our club for more success. Great support and positive feedback from the community at large also help keep clubs, like ours, growing.”
With excellent weather, fantastic horse racing and very enthusiastic crowds (growing each year), it all makes for a wonderful family day out at the races.
ABC Radio identity Peter Goers will attend the event and judge the fashions of the fields.
