This was Lorraine’s first championship win and John’s second. Runners-up were Dene Noble and Mary Edwards.

The finals were closely contested, keeping the spectators on their toes.

In the men’s final Dene got off to a flying start, and was ten shots up on the ninth end, 14 shots to four.

He continued on his merry way to be 11 shots up on the sixteenth end, and it looked like the game was over. It was then that Dene’s party came to an end with John finding his range and putting his opponent under pressure.

Scores were 17 all on the nineteenth end with, John continuing to win ends to be four up.

He then dropped three shots to make it one the difference, but won the next two ends to win back-to-back Championships 25-23.

The plate was won by Bill Swaffer defeating Graeme Zwar 21-14

The ladies final was also a nail biter with the lead continually changing.

Mary scored three on the first end but the scores were tied five all on the fifth end and seven all on the ninth.

Mary dominated for the next eight ends to lead by six shots. However, Lorraine fought back to even the score 17 all.

Lorraine then drew well and led by four shots until dropping a three to be just one ahead.

On the last end she drew three shots to take out the championship

The plate, Jenny Burton defeated Jacqui Dolling 18-14.
