POLAR BEARS Vs SEA STARS…To try and keep their hopes alive to win the big one Polar Bears and Sea Stars went head to head for the preliminary final at Cleve, on Thursday.
With the little ones, more confidant than when they last faced off Lauren Sims was a key player in the first few minutes of the game the older ones still had the upper hand with both Chelsea Smith and Mikaela Harris scoring early for Polar Bears.
Harris also fouled early but she wasn’t too worried about it.
Sims was the first to foul for the Sea Stars, which gave Isabella Ward a chance to shoot.
With Dad cheering on the sidelines, she shot and scored for the Polar bears.
Smith put the ball in the hoop to bring their score up 9-0 in the first quarter. Ashleigh Byrnes determined to score this period she snuck a steal and turned it into Sea Stars first goal.
Harris - not wanting Sea Stars to get to many unanswered goals - put her legs and arms to good use and put the rock in the bucket to score yet another goal.
Harris tried to do it again and it would have worked if she didn’t foul and to show the heat was starting to take its toll
Ashleigh Byrnes and Meagan Rosenzweig both got one soon after.
The Sea Stars managed to grab a few quick points and made the score 13-4 at half time.
Both teams came back on re-energized and determined to give it their best shot.
Byrnes put what her coach said in to action and made the hoop and beyond.
Harris, not to be out played, shot her fifth and last goal for the game.
Smith stepped up to help extend the led for the Polar Bears.
Tiahana Johnson put together with Smith and Harris made it almost impossible for Sea Stars to score it was Kristin Siviour who penetrated the key and shot right on target to put it through.
Harris crumbled under the pressure and got fouled off in the last few seconds of the third quarter with the score 17-6
Sea Stars were the first on the court in the final semester with Byrnes scoring an excellent goal as fast as possible the game seesawed up and down with Smith scoring the last goal with little time to spear.
The Polar Bears grabbed the lead from the start and never let it go.
