Steve Wildman returns as the Cats’ A Grade coach in 2009 while Kym Martens, who coached Senior Colts, will move up to lead the B Grade.
Senior players have been training for the year ahead since February.
Senior Colts will be coached by Wayne Piggott and the Junior Colts by Nathan Johnson. Both are current A Grade players and have assisted the junior coaches in previous years.
Cowell’s line-up remains relatively steady this year with new players Benjamin Ferguson (from Sunraysia Football Club, Redcliffs) and Robbie Dunn (Central Whyalla) joining the fold. In contrast, Lee Jackson has moved to Kimba and Ryan Walsh to Marble Range for work reasons
In 2008, A Grade and Junior Colts finished the season as minor premiers, making the grand finals, only to be defeated. B Grade finished second and went on to become premiers.
With such a strong performance behind them, and an opportunity to build on the strengths of last year with real consistency in the ranks, the Cats are looking forward to a good Season 2009.
However, with many senior players working at Iron Duke on rosters numbers may be unpredictable each week.
Cowell is fortunate to have good numbers in both Senior and Junior Colts and is hopeful of success in these grades as well.
2009 will see Cowell officially open its complex extensions and host the Kinlough and Pedler Cups.
